Catching up...once again

My goal for this blog was simply to keep others up to date on what's happening in our crazy world and so one day we could look back and reminisce on the past.  I had hoped to keep it a little more up to date, but little did I realize how hard that would be.  Having a child causes you to put many of your own goals aside.  Now that I'm staying at home with my little man, I hope to sneak in a few more posts during nap times.  I'm going to aim for a goal of once a week.  Maybe I should make it once every two weeks considering I have been home now for almost a month and I'm just now updating... :)

Lots has changed since my last post.  I left my wonderful job of being a preschool teacher.  Although I do miss it a lot, I wouldn't change what I have now for anything.  I LOVE being at home with Isaac.  It is absolutely everything I hoped it would be and more.  I knew being at home with my kids is what I always wanted to do.  In addition to spending time with Isaac, I am watching another little boy, Wyatt.  An almost 7 month old of friends of ours from college.  Having just Isaac keeps me on my toes, but adding another baby into the mix keeps me busy all day!  I am so glad that Isaac gets to be around him and continue to socialize.  It's one of the things I was most sad about when I pulled him out of school.  He loves to play with others.

The teacher in me loves to have fun and new activities for Isaac and Wyatt to do.  Now that Isaac is getting older, he's becoming fascinated with everything around him.  I mean everything.  This week he's officially realized what the trash can is used for.  Putting any and everything into it.  He was helping me clean up a milk spill (because he's obsessed with wiping things up) and I let him throw the paper towel away.  I didn't realize I had opened a whole new world for him.  He now thinks he should throw away everything.  This morning I put contact paper (sticky side up) on the floor with pieces of construction paper, feathers and large sequin stars.  Isaac threw away about 80% of it.  That's how he explored during that activity this morning.  Such a funny little man.  Well, funny until he finds our keys and throws them away without us knowing, right?

The other big thing that has changed around here is the fact that Isaac is walking.  Not only walking but climbing. He is a climbing machine!  And a fast one at that.  Luckily he's pretty good at getting down from things.  Clearly I burned it in his brain that he needs to turn around and go feet first on his belly when going down the stairs.  He now will go down on his belly feet first on anything that has even the slighted decline, including the bridges on the playground.  He walks up the incline, then at the top of the bridge, gets down on his belly.  So funny.  I guess I can't get on to him for being too safe?

Here is just a glimpse of the different things we've been up to since I've been staying hanging out with Isaac and Wyatt:

Sensory play with old formula:
I completely forgot about the sample containers of formula that were sent to me before Isaac was born.  Ran into them and since they were expired, they turned into the perfect sensory material!

Wyatt.  How cute is he??
