Catching up

So here we are 3 months later, and I'm back to give an update of our whirlwind of a fall.  Isaac is growing SO fast.  He's gone from being a happy little baby just rolling around to an army crawling, solid food eating, big almost 7 month old.  Where does the time go??  Isaac has continued to be such a laid back baby.  He's beginning to get a little frustrated he can't move around as quickly as some of his older friends in his class, but I know that will come soon enough.  I don't know if I'm ready to chase him around quite yet.  He has been such a joy to have in our lives and I am so thankful everyday that's he's here.  It still feels a little surreal that I'm a mom.  But I'm in love with our little family.

Our first taste of "real" food.  Banana yogurt!  He loved it!

About a month ago Isaac went on his first plane ride to Tennessee to visit Nonni, Pappy, Auntie B, Uncle Zach and Uncle Will.  He did awesome on the plane ride minus the excessive gas on the flight back, which Stephen and I made clear to those around us that it was the baby and not us. :)  We loved being able to spend time with family.  Wish we lived a little closer so we could visit more often.

So happy on the plane ride!
Because of being at school, Isaac has been working on building up that immune system.  We've had a few colds and his first ear infection, but being the chill baby that he is, hasn't shown too much distress about it.  We're so lucky to have such a laid back little man.  Hopefully we steer clear of any big bugs for the rest of the winter.  Besides school sharing a few bugs with Isaac, I think he's in love with being there.  He really enjoys being with the other babies and has been a part of lots of fun activities, including painting!

Not so sure about sweet potatoes at first...
Helping with the Christmas decorations!

Photo shoot!

We're looking forward to celebrating Christmas with the little man (and Stephen and I getting to be Santa for the first time, even though Isaac won't know otherwise). Can't wait to share pictures of our first Christmas morning :)

A busy August!

Well, it's been WAY too long since I've posted.  Life got extra busy in the month of August!  Isaac is growing like a weed, so I'm excited to share more pictures.  We still take tons...we're a little obsessed with the little man. :)  He's mastered holding his head up and loves to sit up and watch everything going on around him.  The Bumbo seat and the exersaucer are favorites. (And yes, I know the Bumbo seat has been recalled, but no, I will not put him on a table in the Bumbo and walk away...)  He's rolling over from belly to back and back to belly.  Unfortunately he does it for just about everyone but his mommy and daddy.  I've seen him roll over once from his back to his belly, but he's denied Stephen from seeing him do it at all.  The other morning he rolled over TWICE while I was home with him, but when I wasn't watching.  Of course...  He's so sneaky.  He's becoming quite the chatty baby as well.  We love hearing him coo to himself in the backseat as we're driving somewhere.  We'll even have little cooing "conversations" with him.  These are seriously the best parts of my day.  I feel like the newness of having him around or "honeymoon" phase of having a baby (as some websites have described) has definitely not worn off.  I love every single moment with him.  Even the midnight feedings.  I know that sounds crazy, but sometimes I think it's like our extra little snuggle time.  So worth waking up for.
Meeting baby Owen and Matt for the first time.
Isaac's first Royals game

Isaac's first Bubalo golf tournament.
We made sure him and Owen had an "I'm a Bubalo" onesies!

Uncle Will got to watch him for a week before heading off to college!

Since my last post, I have returned to work.  It was so hard.  I missed him SO much.  I think the only thing keeping me going was knowing that in just over a month, he would be joining me at school.  August was a crazy month filled with a whole mix of people watching him (6 different people to be exact).  We had wonderful family and friends watching him and I could not be more grateful for their help, but it is the best to have him in his classroom just two doors down from me.  I get to take breaks during the day to go feed him and occasionally take the long way to the bathroom so I can peek in his window to watch him play.  It's wonderful.  It's the best thing besides actually getting to stay home with him.  Since Stephen doesn't work on Mondays, he gets a Daddy-Isaac day, which I love also.  So glad that he gets that one-on-one "man" time.

Hanging out in the pool!
Going swimming for the first time!

Now that he's started at school, I think we're starting to get on a good schedule/routine.  Or at least I like to think that we are.  I still am loving every part of being a mom and am so in love with our little family.  The summer has brought lots of changes between Isaac's arrival and Stephen's new job.  Things are looking up and can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings!

Our disaster of a three-month-old picture session...
He has been so easy to pose for pictures before, but he was not going to let us get one good picture in this time.  It wasn't that he was fussy or upset about us taking pictures, he just was not going to stay still.

I think this is just about the best one we got...if only I wasn't in the background.

King of the Bumbo

He made up for the unsuccessful picture session by giving me these big smiles a few days later.
Love him so much!!

Road Trip to St. Louis!

Clearly the size is mismarked...
Otherwise Isaac would have been sporting around a new hat!

We were excited to take Isaac on his first road trip to the best city ever (well, I think so anyway...)!  We were going to celebrate Will and my cousin Kacie's graduation.  Isaac slept the whole way there and the whole way back. Quite the easy traveler.  It was his first time meeting most of the Perkins side of the family, including his Uncle Will and Uncle Zach!  In the whirlwind of excitement, we forgot to get the camera out when the party was actually going on, but we got some snapshots of some Uncle Will/Isaac bonding time before the party started. :)  Uncle Zach had lots of bonding time as well, but again, for whatever reason we didn't get the camera out.  Sorry Uncle Zach.

Nonni, Pappy, and Uncle Will came to Kansas City for an impromptu visit from Monday-Thursday, which was wonderful.  They got to spend lots of time with Isaac!
