18 Weeks

Baby B is the size of a sweet potato this week! About 5.6 inches long and 6.7 oz.  I follow thebump.com to see how big Baby B is and what she (or he) is learning to do every week and what fruit or veggie size she's compared to.  In week 18 it says she's sucking, hiccuping, yawning and swallowing already!  Crazy!  I'm still waiting to feel some strong movements in there.  Every once in a while I think I may have felt something, but it's still hard to tell the difference between what might be the baby and what might just be my insides working away.  I was hoping Baby B would give some good kicks that the family might be able to feel while they were all here in town, but no luck.  Oh well.  This baby is making it clear that's she's going to do things on her own time.  I guess I should get used to that...
Stephen and I decided that our New Years resolution was to start eating healthier and exercise more.  I'm pretty sure that's everyone's resolution every year.  Stephen wants to shed a few and I'm really just wanting to eat healthier for the baby now that the holidays are over and I'm not surrounded by delicious looking sweets 24/7.  Note to self: Not only is it bad to go grocery shopping for food when you're hungry, but it's even worse when you're pregnant and hungry.  The ice cream aisle sucked me in like a bug drawn to the light.  I stood there looking at all the different flavors and my mouth literally started watering.  So I narrowed it down to two and tried to make a decision from there.  A few minutes later I had both quarts of Mint Brownie and Drumstick ice cream in my cart.  I got out of there as quick as I could...
For Christmas Stephen and I got a fancy new camera, so we're excited to be posting pictures that will hopefully look better than the ones we've been taking with our phones.  I'm also super excited to have a nice camera for when our little jellybean arrives!  We should get some pictures up of my every so slowly growing belly up soon. :)
Oh, and our most exciting news (which I'm surprised I didn't say first thing) is that we find out the sex of the baby on January 9th!!!  I can't wait!!!!  I still I have this feeling that it's a boy, but Stephen has decided that we've jinxed it with all this boy talk and that it's a girl.  Only 9 more days until we know for sure!  Once we know I think I'll officially start going crazy buying things and picking our furniture.  Can't wait!!!

Here's a few pictures from Christmas with the Perkins Crew!

Thanks Isaacsons!

We love our Monopoly!  Trading at it's best!

We can't get together without taking a crazy family picture!

16 weeks

I can't believe I'm already 16 weeks along.  Crazy.  It's flying by!  I still don't have much of a bump to show off yet, but I have a feeling it's just going to pop out one week and BAM!, I'm going to finally look prego.  It's nice to be past the morning sickness part of pregnancy and into the much easier second trimester.  I feel really lucky not to have ever really gotten sick (only felt really nauseous).  A friend told me that means I'm going to be having a boy.  We shall see...about one more month until we find out!  I can't wait!
I think the most exciting thing that Baby B was able to start doing this week was being able to finally hear us!  It actually made me start to cry when I read that. (These pregnancy hormones are definitely making me cry easier these days)  But really, how amazing is it that our baby can hear our voices already?!?  Some of the first things Baby B is going to start hearing is us all celebrating Christmas and spending time with so many of our favorite people.

How far along? 16 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: not really sure, I'll find out on Wednesday
Maternity clothes? still just using the ole' ponytail holder on the unbuttoned jeans
with the BeBand.  I would much rather wear leggings or sweatpants all day though.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: No good as of the last couple of weeks.  In addition to waking up at least once a night to go to the bathroom, my back and neck are so sore when I wake up.  Looks like I need to get off my always-exhausted booty and start exercising more.  :\
Best moment this week: Knowing that Baby B can hear us!
Miss Anything? Just a good night's sleep.
Movement: Nothing yet.  Sometimes I think I feel a little something, but I think it's just in my head.  I'm clearly really looking forward to feeling some movements.
Food cravings: Nothing in particular.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Salad with dark lettuce still grosses me out.  And chicken by itself doesn't ever look to appetizing.
Have you started to show yet: barely...just the little awkward pooch
Gender prediction: Ever since our last ultrasound, I have had this feeling it's a boy.
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Feeling some kicks and Stephen being able to feel them too!

When life gives you a lemon...

... it's probably just your baby!

Yeah, that joke fell flat. They can't all be winners.

Goodbye First Trimester!

Well, I've officially made it to the second trimester!  We've had quite the busy week, so I haven't gotten a chance to update and share the pictures we've taken.  We went to see the doctor on Wednesday for my 12 week appointment and everything went great!  We heard a strong heartbeat and got to see our little peanut (or should I say plum now...) wiggle all around!  It was amazing!  I wish I could just stay in that room and watch our baby move all day long!  Since the ultrasound technician was gone, our doctor did her best to get some good pictures for us.  Our baby is actually starting to look more like a baby!
We should be finding out the sex soon after the first of the year.  Stephen's birthday is on January 7th, so I decided that if it's a boy, I'll just consider that his gift :)

The baby bump is slowly getting a little bigger!  It still looks like I have just been eating a few too many donuts though, or in my case McDonald's cheeseburgers and fries...

How far along? 12 Weeks, 6 Days
Total weight gain/loss: 3 lbs.
Maternity clothes? I bought a few shirts, but have only been wearing one of them.  I've been trying to stick to leggings and sweatpants.  Jeans are quickly becoming annoying to wear.  Especially when I've just been using hair ties to keep my pants buttoned.  I need to try using the BeBand I got more...
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I fall asleep in about 2.5 seconds after my head hits the pillow.  I wake up at least once a night to pee and I can't seem to sleep in no matter how hard I try.  I keep waking up between 6:30 and 7:30.  Grrr...
Best moment this week: Our 12 week ultrasound.  Seeing our baby squirm all around!
Have you told family and friends: It will soon be Facebook official!
Miss Anything? Sushi!  I have tortured myself twice already by going to Kona and The Drunken Fish.  Thank goodness for lettuce wraps and steak lo mien.
Movement: Haven't felt anything yet.
Food cravings:  At this point I've been eating whatever my body feels like since I've felt so nauseous all the time.
The other day I thought a McDonald's hamburger and fries sounded good, so I decided to get one.  Now if you know me, you know I don't really eat much fast food.  I think I've been to McDonald's maybe 2-3 times in the past few years and it's only for ice cream.  When I took my first bite of that cheeseburger and fries the other day, it was one of the best burgers I have had in my life.  Pregnancy does some weird stuff...  Let's just hope that craving goes away after the baby, otherwise I may have a "baby belly" for a little longer than necessary.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Salad.  The darker the lettuce, the more it makes me want to gag.
Have you started to show yet: Just a little
Gender prediction: Girl
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Weekly Wisdom: Don't pretend to feel fine and keep cleaning the house when you're feeling nauseous.  That only results in dry heaving while putting the dishes away.  Ignoring it doesn't make it disappear.
Looking forward to: Getting a bigger bump & finding out the gender! :)

Another week down!

That's right, another week down and a little more belly growth!

I'm not sure if that's because we took the picture after dinner or if it's because of the baby. ;)

I'm going to have to change my tune a bit from my last post when I said that it felt like things were moving really slow. Now, it seems like time is moving faster and that our next appointment (Nov. 23) is right around the corner. I can't wait to see and hear my baby again!

Just a little update...

How far along? 10 weeks
Total weight gain: nada
Maternity clothes?  It's a little uncomfortable to button my jeans so I've been using a ponytail holder to keep them closed, which makes them nice and stretchy :)  I also picked up a be band which seems like it will be really helpful.

Stretch marks? nope
Best moment this week:  Just that I've been starting to feel less nauseous

Miss Anything? not yet
Movement: not yet, but I can't wait!
Food cravings: nothing yet, although I must admit that pretzel M&M's are amazingly delicious.
Anything making you queasy or sick: salad, especially the darker lettuce.
Gender: it's a mystery
Labor Signs: no

Symptoms: Less nausea this week, but it's being replaced by being tired all the time
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: well i would say happy....I hope Stephen agrees...
Looking forward to: our next appointment and hitting the 12 week mark!

Ladies and gentlemen, we've hit double digits

TEN WEEKS! It's hard to believe we're that far along because it feels like this entire process is moving so slow. I feel like each of our doctor's appointments have been like Christmas morning, we're just so excited for them to get here so we can learn more about the baby and how its (sorry, I like to say 'it,' not he/she) growing, get more info on what we need/can do during this whole process, just see the baby and hear its heartbeat, etc., that it feels like time leading up to those dates moves as slow as possible. Maybe that will start to change but as for right now Nov. 23 can't get here soon enough!

On to more important things, like my cravings. I feel like I've already gained 5 pounds during this whole thing. I'm not sure about Katie, but man, I've really had a hankerin' for some Mountain Dew and pizza. Oh, wait, that's everyday. Never mind.

Anyway, we hope our little prune is doing well! (Side note: A prune? Really? What, they couldn't think of a less appealing, disgusting food to compare our future baby to?)

And then there were three...

We're excited to announce...we're adding one more Bubalo to the world!  We could not be more excited!  I was literally jumping and screaming when I saw those two pink lines!  I think Stephen was a bit shocked, but still very excited.  We are so happy to be parents (that still feels weird to say).
We had our first doctors appointment on October 25th and got our first picture of little baby Bubalo.  We even got to see his/her heart beating at a solid 161 beats per minute.  Finally getting to see it up on that big screen made it so real.  Best. moment. ever.

There's our little peanut!
