Turning the big 3-0!

Well, we've hit the 30 week mark!  I can't believe we're getting this close to meeting our little man!  I feel like my belly is definitely growing much quicker these days as Baby B packs on the pounds (and I continue to pack in the doughnuts...).  He's going to be here before we know it!  It's been really exciting putting his nursery together and getting things prepared for his arrival.  Our doctors appointments will soon start coming every two weeks, which really makes me feel like we're in the home stretch.  Whenever I think of the whole idea of labor, I have these mixed emotions of complete fear mixed with total excitement.  I'm sure the worst pain in the world is going to disappear the second I see his face and hear his cry.  Stephen still seems to be pretty relaxed about the whole thing.  Excited, but relaxed.  Let's just hope he keeps that relaxed feeling when I'm in total panic mode as we head to the hospital.

How far along? 30 Weeks
Total weight gain: 15 at my last appointment
Maternity clothes? Yes!  So much more comfortable!!  I can still wear some of my non maternity shirts, skirts, and cozy pants, but my regular jeans are totally out.  I bought a few pairs of maternity jeans in hopes that those plus some skirts and yoga capris would last me through, but I didn't realize how hot I would be all the time with this extra body inside mine!  I might have to break down and buy some more maternity summer clothes...
Sleep: Still sleeping great.  It takes a lot more energy to turn from one side to the other than it used to, but I'm glad to be sleeping like a baby.
Best moment this week: Having my sister and mom in town to put together more of the nursery.  I'm LOVING how it's all coming together.  Can't wait to show B his room for the first time.

Miss Anything? nothing at the moment...maybe just having as much energy as I used to have before.
Movement: All the time!  He's a mover and a shaker.  The other day I saw an elbow, or foot, or something poke completely out of my belly and move from one side to the other.  It was crazy!!  He seems to be doing a lot more rolling around now than big kicks, but I'm sure things are getting a little crammed in there.
Food cravings: Still loving milk.  I liked milk before I was preggo, but I'm downing it all the time now.  I realized the other day that Stephen and I go through a gallon about every 5 days.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not anymore!  Salad officially looks and tastes delicious again. One day it grossed me out and the next it looked amazing!
Gender: BOY!

Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: Rib pain!  He loves to jab his foot (or some body part) up on the right side of my ribs.  I'm sure my rib pain is a mix of those kicks and just part of being pregnant.  The skin on my belly feels like it's stretched to capacity sometimes too.
Belly Button in or out? I guess I could still consider it in for now.  My skin is getting so tight I have what my mom described as a "belly button eyelid".  It's quickly losing it's depth though.
Wedding rings on or off? On. No sausage fingers yet!

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Finishing up the nursery and my upcoming baby showers!

Nursery Progress

The nursery got lots of attention this past week with both my mom and my sister in town for our crafty girls week.  We refinished the rocker and ottoman Stephen and I found at the thrift shop, put shelves together, filled both the dresser my sister gave us and the closet with lots of clothes and crafted a couple different things to hang on the walls.  Brittney was quite the sewing master and made a crib skirt, pillows and the pieces to reupholster the rocker and ottoman.  I am so thankful for all their help and love the way everything is coming together.

Before

Some sanding...

Painting...

And reupholstering...

After

We put the shelf together and added a few of our own touches...

The map was one of our cheapest projects.  Only $6 for the map and about $4 spent on foam boards, the big map looks perfect on the big empty wall in the room.

I bought a pack of 4 canvases to paint a few pieces of artwork inspired from something I saw on Pinterest.  Even Stephen found his inner Picasso to do some painting!  We added a few pieces cut out from scrapbook paper and chipboard letters once they were dry.

Putting all this together has been making it all feel that much more real.  It's crazy to think that it just 10 more weeks we'll get to show Baby B his new room. Can't wait!

The Crib! And 27 weeks!

The weeks just keep on flying by, which is not at all how I figured it would be. I know we still have about 13 weeks to go but I feel like this entire process has been going by pretty quickly, and I'm definitely ready for Billy Bubba Bubalo (my dad came up with that one) to be here!

We got the crib delivered about a week ago and were so excited to put it together that we did it that night, and to my surprise, it wasn't that difficult. It took less than 2 hours and I only remember getting frustrated one time. It was remarkable.

And since we have a fancy new camera, we try and find as many excuses to use it as possible so we figured putting the crib together was one of those instances.

As you can tell, it was a blast. Along with the crib we've also gotten a rocking chair and a rug for the room in recent days, while Katie continues to look for things that will go with our theme. It's very cool to see the room start to come together. The more things we do, the more real everything seems. I had someone ask me the other day, something along the lines of if I was nervous/scared for the baby to come. I said I wasn't ... yet. I'm more excited than anything, and it's things like seeing the room come together or just a long day of Baby Shopping Sunday (my new name for Sunday) that makes me excited. I mean, the crying, losing sleep, pooping, peeing, spitting up - what's not be excited about? :)

As for Katie, she's starting to plump up nicely, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. I'm feeling all the kicks and movements much better now. Talk about something that never gets old. And it's nice that Billy Bubba (that name just may stick) doesn't stop kicking once I place my hand on Katie's belly like he was before.

We have another doctor's appointment Wednesday and I'm pretty sure after that we'll be having more frequent visits. I never thought I'd say it but I actually look forward to going to the doctor. I blame Billy Bubba Bubalo.
