Isaac made quite the surprise arrival on May 12th at 6:41AM! After a day of work and getting a pedicure, I was home for just 30 minutes before my water broke. Stephen and I were just sitting on the couch, talking about our day, when BAM! Isaac decided he was ready to be here. I felt surprisingly calm, but Stephen, on the other hand, was in a bit of a panic. We had no bag packed, no car seat in the car and were waiting on the doctor to call us back since the offices had closed about 5 minutes before my water broke....of course. We got what we could packed in a bag and once the doctor called back, headed to the hospital.

| He weighed in at just 6lb. 2oz. when he was born and just 5lb. 11oz when we left the hospital |
Everything went about as smooth as I could have hoped. I was so excited for Isaac to be here! About 6 hours in I got an epidural. Kudos to those who go all natural, because there was NO way I was going to go without that epidural. The nurse told us to try and get a little sleep. Stephen was out like a light on the couch. My adrenalin was running on high and I was still feeling contractions on my left side, so I didn't get any sleep. At about 6:00, the nurse came in and said it was time to push! I panicked for just a second when she told me since Stephen was still fast asleep on the couch. He woke up to a room full of nurses, all the lights on and me yelling at him that it was "go time!"
At 6:41 the love of my life was born. I cried my eyes out when the put him on my chest. It was one of the best moments of my life. There are no words that can describe the feeling of seeing and holding your baby for the first time.
From that moment on, I've barely been able to stop holding him. I just want to snuggle with him all the time. He is the most precious thing!
Stephen was able to stay home the first week and my mom stayed in town until the following Sunday. My mom was an amazing help. She made food, helped us buy all the things we didn't have (we thought maybe Isaac might at least need a place to sleep and clothes that fit his tiny little self...), and was there to do whatever needed to be done. Stephen was amazing as well. He's been awesome since we've been home, helping me when I need it and learning to be a master diaper changer.
As for getting up at night, Isaac does better and better every night. He sleeps 3-4 hours before waking for his next meal. Stephen woke up the first week when Isaac would cry, but has quickly learned to sleep right through it. He's become my entertainment as I feed Isaac since he does a lot of talking in his sleep. He will often cheer Isaac on as he's eating by saying, "Good job, buddy." Unfortunately, while in half-sleep mode, he will either pat my leg or a pillow, thinking that it's Isaac. Very funny...
Being a mom is exactly what I've always wanted. So far, it has been even more amazing than I ever thought it could be. I love every second I get to spend with my little man and love the family we have become.
Some of my favorite moments so far...
He's in love with getting his hair washed.
He falls asleep in the most adorable positions
Playing with dad
And getting his professional pictures done. Heather Brulez was amazing!
