6 Weeks Old!

We've had lots of tummy time here at the Bubalo household!  Jackson even likes to get in on the action as we're all crowded around Isaac cheering him on.  The other day while Stephen was taking a video of Isaac, Jackson came over and started flipping up the ends of the Boppy pillow with his nose.  I guess he wanted to show off what he could do too. :) (It's hard to see, but he's doing it in the video...)
He's finally starting to grow out of a few newborn clothes.  The newborn onesies and shirts are starting to get a little short on him, but he still is drowning in some of his 0-3 clothes.  I think we just have ourselves a scrawny tall little one.  Shocking, I know...
Sleep is going well.  We've had three random nights where he's slept for 6 hours.  It's amazing to sleep for that long when you're used to waking up every 3 hours.  Let's hope we have some more of those 6 hour nights!
One I've learned recently about Isaac during the night:  He snores and farts just like his father...such special traits to pass on.
After a middle of the night feeding, I come back into the room after using the restroom to two snoring boys.  One was plenty, now I've gained a mini snorer.  After climbing back into bed, I hear a huge fart and realize that I actaully had no idea which Bubalo men of mine it just came from.  I shook my head and went to bed.  They're lucky they're so cute...

This one is for you Bri :)

Working so hard to hold that head up!

Isaac smiling

Isaac's head massage

Isaac clearly enjoying Auntie B rubbing his head...

Pictures from the past week

Hopefully this will fit him by winter :)

He had his first bath without the infant holder on his tub (which kept his body from being fully in the water).  As you can tell by the look on his face, he was a little unsure of it.  He seemed to like it more than sitting in the infant holder since more of his body was in the warm water.

His favorite part was still getting his hair washed though!

One Month Old!

Isaac is a big one month old already! Time is flying by.  Nonni (my mom) and Auntie B (my sister Brittney) are here visiting and were able to celebrate the big day with the little man.  I wanted to find something we could take his picture with each month so we could compare it to how big he gets over the year. After a little help from Pinterest, we decided on a dump truck.  He was wide awake one morning and we thought we'd try our own little photo shoot.  He was happy as could be lounging in the truck.  We brought out the tie we gave to daddy as an early Father's Day gift, too (I felt he needed to have the classic Father's Day gift on his first Father's Day, especially since he had an upcoming job interview).  My sister brought her camera as well, so I'm sure Isaac felt like quite the model.  It was fun to pretend we were photographers for a while...

Isaac Michael Bubalo

Isaac made quite the surprise arrival on May 12th at 6:41AM!  After a day of work and getting a pedicure, I was home for just 30 minutes before my water broke.  Stephen and I were just sitting on the couch, talking about our day, when BAM!  Isaac decided he was ready to be here.  I felt surprisingly calm, but Stephen, on the other hand, was in a bit of a panic.  We had no bag packed, no car seat in the car and were waiting on the doctor to call us back since the offices had closed about 5 minutes before my water broke....of course.  We got what we could packed in a bag and once the doctor called back, headed to the hospital.

He weighed in at just 6lb. 2oz. when he was born and just 5lb. 11oz when we left the hospital
Everything went about as smooth as I could have hoped.  I was so excited for Isaac to be here!  About 6 hours in I got an epidural.  Kudos to those who go all natural, because there was NO way I was going to go without that epidural.  The nurse told us to try and get a little sleep.  Stephen was out like a light on the couch.  My adrenalin was running on high and I was still feeling contractions on my left side, so I didn't get any sleep.  At about 6:00, the nurse came in and said it was time to push!  I panicked for just a second when she told me since Stephen was still fast asleep on the couch.  He woke up to a room full of nurses, all the lights on and me yelling at him that it was "go time!"
At 6:41 the love of my life was born.  I cried my eyes out when the put him on my chest.  It was one of the best moments of my life. There are no words that can describe the feeling of seeing and holding your baby for the first time.
From that moment on, I've barely been able to stop holding him.  I just want to snuggle with him all the time.  He is the most precious thing!

Stephen was able to stay home the first week and my mom stayed in town until the following Sunday.  My mom was an amazing help.  She made food, helped us buy all the things we didn't have (we thought maybe Isaac might at least need a place to sleep and clothes that fit his tiny little self...), and was there to do whatever needed to be done.  Stephen was amazing as well.  He's been awesome since we've been home, helping me when I need it and learning to be a master diaper changer.
As for getting up at night, Isaac does better and better every night.  He sleeps 3-4 hours before waking for his next meal.  Stephen woke up the first week when Isaac would cry, but has quickly learned to sleep right through it.  He's become my entertainment as I feed Isaac since he does a lot of talking in his sleep.  He will often cheer Isaac on as he's eating by saying, "Good job, buddy."  Unfortunately, while in half-sleep mode, he will either pat my leg or a pillow, thinking that it's Isaac.  Very funny...

Being a mom is exactly what I've always wanted.  So far, it has been even more amazing than I ever thought it could be.  I love every second I get to spend with my little man and love the family we have become.

Some of my favorite moments so far...
He's in love with getting his hair washed.

And getting his professional pictures done.  Heather Brulez was amazing!
